中文摘要TiCN coatings were deposited onto WC cutting tools at ambient temperatures using pulsed high energy density plasma coaxial gun. The residual stresses of the as-coated tools were determined by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The results showed that the residual stresses were originated from three sources: compressive stress induced in substrates by ion implantation of pulsed plasma, tensile stresses induced in coatings during the fast cooling of plasma from the ultra-high temperature to the ambient temperature of the substrate it reached at, and the secondary cooling stresses induced in coatings due to the thermal expansion mismatch during the cooling from the average temperature reached by the coating-substrate system after deposition to room temperature. The residual stresses obtained were in a range of -0.5 GPa to +1.0 GPa, and the low stress state showed that the coatings were well adhesive to the substrate. It was discovered that the residual stresses varied with the processing conditions. With the increases in the discharging voltages between the inner and outer electrodes of the coaxial gun, and the shot times of pulsed plasma, the compressive stresses decreased and the tensile stresses increased. And there is a peak value in the residual tensile stresses.
