Host-guest interaction between water-soluble beta-cyclodextrin polymer and hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide

中文摘要A supramolecular recognizing system was constructed based on the water-soluble beta-cyclodextrin polymer (beta-CDE) as host and hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide P(AM/POEA) as guest. Such guest polymer is a water soluble polymer containing a small amount of hydrophobe (x(POEA)<0-01), The results of NMR measurement indicated that the host-guest interaction between beta-CDE and P(AM/POEA) was carried out through the formation of inclusion complexes between cyclodextrin cavity and the hydrophobe POEA. High viscosity enhancements were observed when beta-CDE was added to P(AM/POEA) solutions as a result of the polymer inclusion association, which can be controlled by varying the polymer concentration and hydrophobe content. The influences of salt concentration and temperature on the viscosity of mixture solution were also studied. The TEM images demonstrated that the host-guest interaction between beta-CDE and P(AM/POEA) led to the formation of multi-polymeric aggregate with solid sphere structure.
