The constructiond of mountain traffic lines will make a rapid progress with the explotiation of western China. Characteristics, and distributions and hazards of debris flow are discussed in detail. According to the features of debris flow and their hazards, the appropriate mitigation countermeasures are put forward for lines constructed, under construction, and planned. These countermeasures include both civil engineering and bioengineering works. At the end, the related problems about debirs flow during traffic line construction in mountain area are discussed.
