英文摘要	Located on the upper reaches of Xiaojiang River in northeastern Yunnan，Jinyuan is 0ne of the zones where debris flow and Iandslides are coneentrated，frequent and disastrous． Notable are the debris f]ows Laogan Ravine，which damage villages ，erode fertile farmland to turn vas t streches of it into desert flat．n is paper makes a general sur~ey of the debris flows at Jinyuan．analyzes the background their occurrences，discusses the parameters nececary for the design of corrective works against debris flows，and describes how to select an d decide the remedial scheme Emphasis is placed on discussing the desing of a 1000 m—long diversion channe1 which has been implemented since 1992．So far it has been completed ．50 check dams have been constructed in the source area in combination with the bioloicai iTlexqsuiq~．In this way．debris flow hazards ale defectively but under control SO as to achieve the remarkable em iogical and socio-economical benefits
