中文摘要旅游和经济增长的关系是20世纪六七十年代至今国际旅游学 界研究的热点之一。文章首先介绍了国际学术界关于旅游和经济增长相互作用路径的一般认识,即旅游发展主要从5个方面促进经济增长,而经济增长主要从3个方 面推动旅游发展;然后从旅游作为一个产业对经济增长的贡献度量研究视角,归纳和回顾了国际学术界关于旅游乘数、投入产出分析、可计算的一般均衡模型、旅游 卫星账户等4方面的研究:从旅游作为经济增长因素促进经济增长的理论机理研究视角,归纳和梳理了国际学术界关于旅游专门化和经济增长的关系、旅游带动经济 增长假说检验等两方面的研究;最后,得到结论和启示。
英文摘要The relationship between tourism development and economic growth has been of great concern in tourism
academic circles. To attract greater academic attention and to inspire Chinese researchers,the present paper tries to provide a brief outline of previous research in this field,and to draw conclusions based on these earlier studies.First,by reviewing previous literature,this paper summarizes the promotional effects of tourism on economic growth in 5 aspects: 1 ) international tourism is an important way of earning foreign currency,and the earned foreign currency can be used to expand reproduction; 2 ) tourism can stimulate investment in infrastructure and human capital,and enhance competition and cooperation between tourism destinations and enterprises,therefore promoting their competitiveness and efficiency; 3) the consumption of tourists stimulates the development of other industries by direct,indirect and induced effects; 4) as a labor intensive industry,tourism functions as an important tool to create employment opportunities,and hence it increases the income of people and activates consumption; and 5)tou rism is beneficial to the realization of the scale and scope economy,and reduces the costs of enterprises. The promotional effects of economic growth on tourism can also be summed into 3 aspects: 1 ) in terms of regions of origin,economic growth and the accompanying phenomena including increases in income and free time,aging and higher levels of education per capita all effectively stimulate tourism demand and lead to the diversification of that demand; 2) in terms of destination,economic growth is beneficial to the promotion of infrastructure,accessibility and public service,and the development of supporting industries such as transportation,entertainment and real estate is good for the supply of tourism products. The economic growth of destinations deliberately or unwittingly generates some new attractions; and 3) the globalization of the economy enhances the business connections between different regions and therefore drives the development of business travel.This paper then reviews research that regards tourism as an industry,including studies on the progress of
tourism multipliers,input-output models,computable general equilibrium and tourism satellite accounts. To follow,there is a review of research that views tourism as a determinant for economic growth,including studies on the relationship between tourism specialization and economic growth,and studies on the tourism-led growth hypothesis based on the Granger causality test.Finally.
this paper draws the conclusion that as an industry,the promotional effects of tourism on economic growth have been proved by most mathematical statistics tools. Therefore,it is not only possible,but also essential to regard tourism as a strategic mainstay industry. However,researches on the relationship between tourism specialization and economic growth have found that tourism is not only a strategic mainstay industry but also an independent determinant for economic growth—which of course should be theoretically certified and empirically examined.
