Microstructure characteristics and tensile properties of multilayer Al-6061/Ti-TA1 sheets fabricated by accumulative roll bonding

英文摘要In present research, Al-6061/Ti-TA1/Al-6061 multilayered sheets were prepared by accumulative roll bonding at 400 degrees C, 450 degrees C and 500 degrees C, and then the fabricated sheets were heat treated by two different heat treatment processes. As the rolling temperature increased, tensile strength and elongation increased for same cycle specimens. Heat treatment significantly improved the tensile properties. Tensile tests and interface analyses revealed that, after heat treatment (both 535 degrees C (1.5 h) solution + 180 degrees C (6 h) aging, and 560 degrees C (1.5 h) solution + 180 degrees C (6 h) aging), Al/Ti multilayers showed better strength and thicker Al-Ti bonding interface layers, which were beneficial for mechanical properties improvement. Furthermore, the rod-like beta-Mg2Si phases and refined microstructure in the heat treated aluminum matrix also obviously promoted the tensile properties improvement. Compared with the 2nd cycle ARB specimens, the Ti layers were smaller in size, thinner in thickness and more uniform in distribution after the 3rd cycle ARB. Because of these factors, the tensile strength of the heat treated 3rd cycle specimens was better than the 2nd cycle specimens.
