英文摘要	Due to the large variety of CAD systems in the market, data exchange between different CAD systems is indispensable. How to identify and extract the design and manufacturing feature information from a data exchange part model is critical in the contemporary product development paradigm since some feature information may be lost in data exchange process, but this information is needed in different product development processes. This paper focuses oil Our efforts to support the STEP standard with the development of a standards-oriented form-feature realization system, the feature panorama is succinctly articulated from the viewpoint of product design and manufacturing. To facilitate feature identification and extraction, a multiple-level feature taxonomy and hierarchy is proposed based on the characteristics of part geometry and topology entities. The relationships between the features and their geometric entities are established, a feature realization system which takes STEP file as input and produces a form-feature STEP file is developed, this STEP file can be exchanged between various companies and can serve as input to further downstream activities such as process planning, scheduling and material requirement planning(MRP). Finally, a concreted CAX system based oil feature design is used to demonstrate the efficacy of the system.
