中文摘要近年来,基于图形处理器的通用计算(GPGPU)在软、硬件上不断完善,成为高性能计算一个重要趋势。CPU-GPU混合架构的高性能计算系统的建立,为更大规模的科学计算提供了可能。科学计算可视化技术经过20多年的发展,已经成为科学数据处理和分析的一个重要手段。然而,数据量爆炸式地增长为科学计算可视化带来了巨大的挑战;以往的后处理方式的可视化技术逐渐难以满足科学家对于数据处理实时性的需求。 针对上述问题,本文研究了GPU加速的离散模拟并行计算的在线可视化技术,以紧密耦合和松散耦合两种方式分别实现了大规模并行计算在运行过程中的实时数据处理。采用后排序算法的并行绘制技术实现大规模分布式数据的并行可视化;通过计算统一设备架构CUDA和图形编程接口OpenGL的互操作技术,并借助GPU在处理数据密集型问题上的性能优势,实现了数据到图像的高效转换。此外,本文还对可视化过程中涉及到的数据管理、用户交互、负载平衡等问题进行了讨论。
英文摘要In recent years, general-purpose computation on GPU (GPGPU) gained a great success and became an important facility in high performance computing (HPC). The establishment of more and more CPU-GPU clusters makes it possible to deal with more large-scale problems in scientific computing. Meanwhile, with over 20 years of development, the visualization technologies have become an essential method for data processing and analysis. However, the dramatically growth of data take/brings a big challenge to scientific visualization. Besides, the traditional post-processing visualization is difficult to meet the needs of real-time data processing. In this paper, we discussed the in-situ visualization technologies for parallel computation for discrete simulation, and proposed two kinds of in-situ visualization approach. In the first approach, the computing and visualization are tightly coupled. While in the second one, these two parts are loosely coupled. Sort-last parallel rendering was introduced to process massive data and to display images on tiled display wall. CUDA and the interoperability between CUDA and OpenGL were applied to achieve direct and efficient transformation from data in VRAM to images. In addition, data management, user interaction, load balance and some other issues in our approaches were discussed.
