Influence of precompression treatment on creep deformation mechanism of a single crystal nickel base superalloy

英文摘要P-type rafted structure of a nickel base single crystal superalloy with [001] orientation was obtained by compressive creep, and then tensile creep tests were performed to compare in more detail the creep behaviors of the rafted (precompression) and cuboidal (as-heat treated) gamma' microstructures. The experimental results showed that during creeping at 800 degrees C and 600 MPa, the alloy with the P-type structure has much higher strain of primary creep and steady state creep rate, and so the rupture lives were shorter. TEM examination of the sample with the P-type structure indicated that, in addition to {111}< 110 >-slip system operated in gamma matrix, the gamma' precipitates were cut by some superlattice dislocations and a few stacking fault. At low stress of 200 MPa and temperature range from 980 degrees C to 1020 degrees C, the glide-climb process along gamma/gamma' interfaces was impeded most efficiently by P-type rafted structure, the alloy exhibited a lower minimum creep rates and longer rupture lives. It is deduced that the tensile creep strength of the alloy is improved by suitable precompression treatment under high temperature and low stress condition.
