英文摘要Numerous heterotrophic microalgae have the ability to accumulate lipids from various carbon sources. In this study, the dried Enteromorpha was pretreated by acidic hydrolysis and detoxification to increase monosaccharide content, and then the ability of Enteromorpha hydrolysate as a low-cost carbon source for the production of biomass and fatty acids by Schizochytrium sp. was first investigated. The results reveal that the total sugar contained in Enteromorpha hydrolysate were up to 43.93% of cell dry weight, which is a rich source of glucose. The strain was capable of utilizing the algal hydrolysate up to its maximum concentration of 100 g/L and could produce highest biomass (4.31 g/L) and total fatty acids yield (0.64 g/L), which were not significantly different from the maximum yields under pure glucose culture condition. Therefore, Enteromorpha hydrolysate can be used as a low-cost and effective carbon source for the biomass and fatty acids production of Schizochytrium sp. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
