英文摘要Li et al. (2019) proposed that the blackish sand layer (BSL), which has been linked with flooding that caused the destruction of the Lajia archaeological site, was the result of an outburst event from the Yellow River (Wu et al., 2016) rather than the product of mud/debris flows from local gullies. Their interpretation was based on the similarity in the 234U/238 U activity ratio of fine particles from the BSL and that of Yellow River sediments. However, there are alternative interpretations of the 234U/238 U activity ratio of the BSL, not considered by Li et al., that would preclude a definitive Yellow River origin for the flood that destroyed the Lajia site.
