英文摘要The moon jellyfish Aurelia aurita has a complex life history, frequently forming blooms in Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea. At present the research on the planulae stage of A. aurita is relatively limited. We conducted laboratory experiments to examine the effects of different temperatures (19 ℃ and 24 ℃) on survival, settlement and morphology change of A. aurita planula larvae. The results are as follows. (1) The maximal survival period of the planulae was between the range of 21 to 28 days. (2) The mortality rates of A. aurita planulae were significantly influenced by different temperatures (F = 4.238; P < 0.05). The mortality rates were significantly higher under the temperature of 24 ℃ than that of 19 ℃. (3) The temperature had no significant effect on settlement rates of A. aurita planulae (P > 0.05). (4) The length of A. aurita planulae was significantly influenced by different temperatures (F = 7.153; P < 0.05), while the width was not influenced by different temperatures (P > 0.05). The present study provides the new information on the early life cycle of the moon jellyfish A. aurita.
