英文摘要The dynamic mechanical properties of gas hydrate-bearing sediments (GHBS) are of great importance for the safety evaluation of gas hydrate stratum under the earthquake loading and the vibration during engineering activities. Previous research focuses on the static properties of GHBS before and after gas hydrate dissociation. In this paper, the dynamic tri-axial tests on unsaturated tetrahydrofuran hydrate-bearing silty clay sediments (THBS) are conducted under the frequency of 1.0 Hz, the effective confining pressure 1.0 MPa, and relative dynamic load amplitude (dynamic load amplitude/effective confining pressure) of 0– 0.6. When the relative dynamic load amplitude is lower than 0.5, the failure strength of THBS after the dynamic loading is greater than the static failure strength, and dynamic compaction and strengthen effect prevails. While when the relative dynamic load amplitude (DLA) exceeds 0.5, the failure effect dominates, reducing the shear strength of THBS greatly. The pore pressure and deformation develop slowly with the increase of the load time. © 2019 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
