英文摘要	PURPOSE:To automatically correct a droop characteristic independently of dispersion in a semiconductor laser and secular change by using a digital filter whose parameter is variable for correcting the droop characteristic of the semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:The droop characteristic of a semiconductor laser is almost expressed in a linear quadratic system. Then a filter having a characteristic opposite to the droop characteristic is used as a compensation filter to drive a semiconductor layer, then the droop characteristic is corrected. Thus, a filter 12 having a characteristic opposite to the droop characteristic is expressed by a digital filter whose parameter is variable and used for a droop characteristic compensation filter for a semiconductor laser 15. The parameters of the digital filter are obtained by measuring the step response or the impulse response or the like prior to the actual print by a laser beam printer and identifying the system while using the digital filter as a model. Thus, the droop characteristic is automatically corrected at a high speed independently of the dispersion in the semiconductor laser and its secular change.
