英文摘要PURPOSE:To reproduce the half-tone with high precision, by comparing the output signal from a photodetector with a gamma-corrected information signal in a differential amplifier and controlling the driving current of a semiconductor laser by the difference signal. CONSTITUTION:A partial optical output L2 outputted from a semiconductor laser 2 is detected by a photodetector 11, and the detected output is amplified in an operational amplifier OP2 and is applied to one input of a differential amplifier OP3. An input voltage Vi of the information signal to a laser printer is inputted to a gamma correcting circuit 10 and is gamma-corrected by operational amplifiers OP4 and OP5, a ladder-type circuit, etc., and the gamma-corrected information signal is applied to the other input of the amplfier OP3. The output signal from the detector 11 is compared with the gamma-corrected information signal in the amplifier OP3, and a driving circuit 12 of the laser is controlled by the difference signal to control the driving current flowed to the semiconductor laser 2, and thus, the half-tone is reproduced with a high precision.
