| 英文摘要 | The invention allows epoxy (130) to be used to attach optical components (40, 60) together whilst reducing or preventing the flow of epoxy into the optical path (110). Depressions (90) such as trenches are used to provide a barrier to the flow of epoxy. Thus, epoxies can be selected from the point of view of optimum mechanical strength rather than optical properties. The depressions (90) are formed in one or both of the optical devices at the interface adjacent the optical path (100, 110). Applications include butt coupling a PLC to another planar device, such as a diode laser (50) or fiber array block (70). |
