英文摘要This paper traces the centroid movements of land use on the basis of identifying the changing patterns of cultivated land and built-up area in the North China Plain in the period between 1988 and 2020. Direction and magnitude of the centroid shifts during 1988-2005 are based on the data derived from Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM)/Enhanced Thematic Mapper (ETM) remote sensing image, while those for the period between 2005 and 2020 are performed based on simulated land-use patterns by using the Dynamics of Land System (DLS) model. The results indicate that the centroid of cultivated land of the North China Plain during 1988-2005 shifted 3.03 km with a direction of 56.49 degrees west by north and the centroid of built-up area shifted 33.49 km with a direction of 58.16 degrees west by north. In the period between 2005 and 2020, the centroid of cultivated land will shift 20.27 km with a direction of 59.09 degrees west by south southwest, while that of built-up area will shift 67.72 km with a shift direction of 44.30 degrees east by south. The extracts of the shift directions and shift magnitudes of the centroids of cultivated land and built-up area in the North China Plain will supply a valuable reference for understanding the laws of the changing patterns of cultivated land and built-up area and for formulating policies about conserving cultivated land and governing the expansion of built-up area.
