Growth of NiFe-layered double hydroxide nano-sheet arrays on hybrid textile for highly tribological performances of self-lubricating liner composites

The reinforced fibers-resin matrix interphase properties and functional fillers plays a vital role in dominating mechanical and tribological behaviors. In present work, aligned NiFe-layered double hydroxide (NiFe-LDH) nanosheets were introduced onto textile surfaces via a facial and environmental friendly one-step hydrothermal reaction to fabricate self-lubricating liner composites. Characterizations demonstrated that NiFe-LDH possessed a particular lamellar structure and uniformly arrayed on the fibers surface. The peel off and tensile strength of NiFe-LDH nanosheets anchored self-lubricating liner composite were 3.01 N/mm and 96.8 MPa, which increased by 14.4% and 11.9% compared with pristine self-lubricating liner composite, respectively. More importantly, NiFe-LDH nano-sheets decorated self-lubricating liner composites exhibited preferable tribological properties under all test conditions.
