英文摘要 | A regional orientation survey using NAMEG (nanoscale metals in earthgas) and MOMEO (mobile forms of metals in overburden) methods was carried out across the Olympic Dam Cu-U-Au-Ag deposit. Thirty-six sites were sampled in an area of 2500 km(2). At each site, two sample types, earthgas and soil, were collected. Over twenty elements in earthgas samples were determined by INAA. The soil samples were processed by sequential MOMEO leaching for water-extractable metals, adsorbed and exchangeable metals, and occluded metals onto Fe and Mn oxides. Ten elements in each phase were determined by AAS, GF-AAS and HG-AFS. Regional anomalies of Au, Hg, Ir and Ta in earthgas, water-extractable Cu, Au and Hg, and adsorbed Cu, are consistent: with the deposit. The highest values of Au, Hg, Ir, and Ta in earthgas, water-extractable Hg and adsorbed Cu occur directly over the deposit. The water-extractable Cu and Au anomalies around the Olympic Dam have a greater contrast than those in other forms. These results show that the NAMEG and MOMEO techniques can penetrate a thick sequence of post-mineralization rocks overlain by deeply weathered overburden and give a clear expression of concealed deposits where conventional surface geochemical methods are not likely to be used. The patterns also show that this giant ore deposit has a tremendous endowment of metals which can generate large-scale superimposed geochemical anomalies up to and including the surface. The resulting broad geochemical pattern is detectable by low-density sampling coupled with ultra-sensitive analytical methods. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. |
