英文摘要 | Domain boundaries are one kind of surface defects among the important factors that affect the chemical and physical properties of surfaces. In this paper, two kinds of regular domain boundaries have been observed, and have been caused by losing or inserting adatom rows between two domain boundaries. In the latter case, a domain shift occurs relative to the other along the short diagonal of a 7 x 7 unit cell. The former kind usually has simple shapes and a period of 7a, while the latter has complex shapes and the period of 14a, where a is the length of the primitive lattice vector of a Si(111) surface. The shapes of the regular domain boundaries are decided by three factors: (i) the nucleation sites of the two domains; (ii) the growth rates of the two domains; and (iii) the strong interaction between the dimers and the adatoms located at the domain boundaries.; Materials Science, Multidisciplinary; Physics, Applied; SCI(E); EI; CPCI-S(ISTP); 1 |
