A three-dimensional visualization method of the earth field data based on GeoSOT-3D grid

英文摘要The scale of human activities is not limited on the Earth surface, and the Earth space requires more convenient visualization methods, especially for the Earth field data. In the traditional methods, complex modeling is necessary for different applications, and no method is available. 3D Earth grids provide a new thinking for visualization of the Earth field data. GeoSOT-3D grid is introduced, which makes a recursive quad subdivide, and builds a strict octree. Each grid could be supposed as a block, which is stored in the database by specific structure. When the blocks piece together, true 3D effects will appear. Then some visualization methods are introduced, such as surface display, transparent process. After some experiments, the globe geomagnetic data is expressed, according to 388800 grids. The experiment shows, it is feasible to express the Earth field data by GeoSOT-3D grid, with high efficiency, good visual effects, and better operability.
