英文摘要	Land is the basic means of production of the farmers, their chief and most reliable source of income. In a period of hyper-activity of the real estate market and rapid urbanization in China in recent years, commercial development and urban sprawl have constantly been taking up more and more rural land in the urban fringes. Rural land tenure security has been brought to the forefront of national polices. Increasing rural land tenure security will inevitably and indirectly influence future land requisition behaviors of the government, which in turn will affect the availability and cost of land for real estate development for commercial developers. Increasing tenure security also means the direct protection of framers' rights and interests as well as the potential bargaining power that they would have in the future in land acquisition matters. The Rural Land Contracting Law (RLCL) is the single most important piece of law protecting rural land tenure security. Through a survey of two villages in Anhui Province, it shows that farmers' knowledge about important contents of the RLCL is insufficient. The result for the implementation of RLCL is mixed: contract certificates are not sufficiently signed or issued while major land adjustments since the implementation of RLCL have not occurred. The RLCL also does not bring much confidence in tenure security.
