英文摘要Sialic acids, a family of more than 50 members of a-keto acidic monosaccharides with a 9-carbon backbone, are widely distributed in mammalian organisms in the form of glycolipids or glycoproteins. It is the most important monosaccharide appeared on the surface of cells of vertebrates. Nowadays, thousands of unnatural sialic acid derivatives have been synthesized for molecular imaging due to various modifiable sites in the sialic acid structure. However, metabolic oligosaccharide engineering (MOE), is still locating at its preliminary stage and requiring perfection urgently. Here, the research progress in the synthesis of sialic acid derivatives is reviewed.
