英文摘要In the classical Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) the contact conditions are enforced through what is referred to as an open-close iteration scheme. The open-close iteration involves repeatedly fixing and removing the artificial springs between blocks in contact and thus falls into the category of test-and-error solution procedures that cannot assure the solution convergence. Meanwhile, improper stiffness parameters of the artificial springs might cause some numerical problems. In order to evade the introduction of the artificial parameters and to avoid the open-close iteration, this study reformulates the DDA as a mixed nonlinear complementary problem. Then, the Fisher-Burmeister Line Search Algorithm (FBLSA) is modified to solve the problem. Many examples including those originally designed by G.H. Shi have been analyzed, which prove the procedure is feasible.
