英文摘要	Based upon the concept of the fractal law of diameter exponent followed by the branching phenomena of tree trunks and of blood vessels of biological or floral system in nature([1]),the authors have performed lab measurement of the widths of the main cracks and micro-ones branching from the former on a great of number of coal specimens with various metamorphic degrees sampled from coal fields of six mining areas. The results show:(a) after branching of the cracks in coalmass,there exists a relationship between main crack and those branching from it which also,in statistic sense,follow the above stated diameter exponent law,d(Delta) =d(1)(Delta) d(2)(Delta); (b) all the values of Delta are less than 2,having an average value of Delta approximate to 1.16(1.06 similar to 1.23),and (c) the branching angle and the diameter exponent are varing in inverse proportional manner. What is described in this paper is a very significant exploration and study,which is very valued for its reference to many aspects in engineering.
