英文摘要The analytical stress and strain expressions between the volumetric dilatancy boundary and peak strength during rock deformation are derived and the stress and strain instability criteria under shear state are also presented for rock specimens and crustal rockmass, respectively. The analysis on some brittle failure cases indicates that the strain criterion can be used to predict the occurrence of rock avalanches and strong earthquakes.
