英文摘要 | Traveltime tomography requires an algorithm for efficient and accurate computation of traveltimes and their paths, i.e., traveltime derivatives with respect to the subsurface parameters. Conventional ray-theoretical traveltime inversion algorithms calculate the traveltime and the corresponding raypaths using raytracing methods, which are all based on the assumption of infinite frequency, but the field seismic waves are band-limited. Unlike conventional raytracing theory, wave-equation tomography can account for the band-limited characteristics of seismic waves. Therefore, in this paper we compute traveltimes and their wavepaths by solving the suppressed monochromatic frequency-domain wave equation. The first-arrival traveltime is obtained by taking the natural logarithm of a strongly suppressed monochromatic wave field, and the wavepath is obtained by taking the imaginary part of the partial derivative wavefield, where the wavefield partial derivative is efficiently calculated by the virtual source principle and the reciprocity principle. The results show that the traveltime calculated by the wave equation is much smoother than the ray-theoretical traveltime, and the wavepath has different sensitivity and width for different velocity structures. Similar to the resolution analysis of ray density, the superposition of all the wavepaths can also give the resolution image. |
