【Abstract】The Chinese poetry of Japanese in the Edo period is one of the core contents of Japanese “Sinology”. The criterions on the Chinese poetries of Japanese during this period, have transformed from “Washu" [和臭]]to"Washu”[和习].However, “Washu”[和臭]and “Washu”[和习]are still evaluation method under the laws of opposites between the culture of China and Japan. A notion of“ Washu”[和秀],replacing the former ones and underlining the cultural superiority of Japan, not only means the cultural consciousness of Japan, but also represents the establishment of a new criterion in the Japanese literature. To re-examine the poetries and the Japanese literary criticism of Japanese literati in the Edo period, it is necessary to add“Washu [和秀]” as a new criterion, so as to clarify the evolution of criterions that Japanese scholars conformed to criticize the Chinese poetries of Japanese or even the whole Japan Sinology, as well as to reveal that Japan Sinology gradually broke away from the cultural influence of China and present a cultural self-awareness in the Edo period.
