Ltd.; In this paper, based on the research of the Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) receiver, we conclude that the coherent demodulation can achieve better frequency efficiency than the non-coherent demodulation, at the cost of higher design complexity. Hence, this paper proposes a novel differential soft decision scheme to reduce the complexity of the CPM receiver. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the complexity of the CPM receiver significantly, while causes a slight performance loss. ? (2011) Trans Tech Publications Switzerland.
