英文摘要	作为非言语交际行为手段之一的“沉默“是自然会话的显著特征之一。它是交际中普遍存在的现象,蕴涵着丰富的社会内容。然而综观国内外对“沉默“的研究,大多数集中于对沉默的一般语用功能及其跨文化差异性方面的探讨。至于沉默与礼貌的内在联系,研究甚少。在此结合lEECH的“礼貌原则“,从沉默与礼貌原则各个准则的关系的角度来分析沉默与礼貌的内在联系。; Silence, as one means of the non-verbal communication, is one of the salient features of naturally occurring conversation.It is prevalent in our communication and rich in social contents.Nevertheless, most of the researches on "silence", at home and abroad, center on the common pragmatic functions and cross-cultural differences of silence.Few have studied the inherent relations between silence and politeness.Taking Leech’s "Politeness Principles" as the framework, this paper analyzes the internal relations between silence and politeness through an analysis of silence’s relations with the theory’s four maxims respectively.
