英文摘要	全球化进程的加快使英语成为我国人才建设必不可少的工具;经济和社会的变迁则对传统的英语教育投资模式提出了挑战。解决该问题的前提是对我国现行英语教育模式进行全方位考察,并回答“英语教育在多大程度上是值得的？“这一问题。本文拟从语言经济学的研究取向入手,对我国英语教育的公共投资和个人投资进行成本—收益分析,据此构建出一个试探性的最佳投资模型,并为我国的英语教育提出一些政策性建议。; The acceleration of globalization renders English a major factor of human capital and an indispensable tool in the development of talents in various fields.With the transition of China's economy and society,the traditional ways of investment in English education are finding it hard to fit in with the current needs.To solve such a problem,we first need to give an all-round survey on the current practice of investments in English education and make out to what degree it is worth the while.The paper starts with a brief review of the present research orientation of language economics,presents a detailed cost-benefit analysis on public investment and private investment in China's English education,and sets up a tentative optimal investment model.It concludes with a list of implications for decision -making in English education system as a result of the preceding empirical research.; 教育部人文社科规划项目《语言经济学与中国英语教育》(项目批号:06JA790095)的阶段性成果
