英文摘要	作为一种新兴的口译形式,电话口译在美国的发展相对成熟,市场潜力巨大。本文从职业角度剖析了电话口译在美国兴起的政治经济背景、其市场潜力、主要客户群及使用语言,以及译员的上岗培训和职业准则等,文章还对电话口译的工作流程和质量要求及涉及技能进行了分析,希望国内译界对这种新兴口译形式能予以重视,进行必要的研究,以应对市场发展的趋势。; This paper analyses Over-the-Phone Interpreting(OPI) in the US,from both professional and theoretical perspectives.In professional terms,the paper sheds light on the political and economic reasons behind the boom in the OPI industry in the US,its market potential,major OPI clients and languages,as well as the training of OPI interpreters by the industry and the professional code of conduct.In theoretical terms,the authors examine OPI procedures,quality perception and skills components.The paper ends with a plea for more research into this new form of interpreting.
