中文摘要	<正> Based on field survey of marine terraces and analysis of their 57 cross sections and a 280 km longitudinal profile, at least 12 Quaternary terraces are recognized in the study area which is located on a rigid block consisting chiefly of Mesozoic granites and metamorphic rocks. Of them the highest terrace with an altitude of 120 m and scattered gravels is considered to be of early Pleistocene. In gereral, these marine terraces are found to be parallel each other over the whole area and only vertically displaced by two short local faults in the southern part close to the intensely subsiding North China Plain. This indicates that the area under study is situated on a Quaternary strongly whole-uplifted block, where there is no risk of great earthquake and the central part of this area would be the best site for a nuclear power plant.
