Orientational prepositions, especially those containing rich metaphorical meanings, tend to be converted into Chinese verbs in the proc ess of translation, which is usually described as a process of "being stative" converted into "being dynamic". Through examples of "behind", "beyond" an d "under", this p aper discusses different translating ways and reveals that this is also a proces s in which literal meanings of orientational prepositions are being transferred to their metaphorical meanings.
