In this paper, literature is reviewed on the concept, classification and structure of the organizational memory. Three characteristics of the organizational memory are emphasized as historical, knowledge value and collective. Research on the building of organizational memory and its impact on the organizational performance are briefly summarized. It is pointed out that the information technology, employee development and social network are important for the effective operation of organizational memory system; and the organizational memory should be used and updated in a proper way.
