中文摘要Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were used to improve the performance and lifetime of traditional field emission sensors, instead of existing emission emitters such as silicon and metal tips. Well-aligned multi-wall carbon nanotube films synthesized by chemical vapor deposition showed perfect electron emission properties with a turn-on filed of 1.42 V/ mu m, a threshold field of 2.22 V/ mu m and an enhancement factor of more than 4 034. The field emission I-d curves indicate that with increasing inter-electrode distance, the emission current decreases non-linearly, with the largest slope as large as 0.018 8 mu A/ mu m. The experimental and analytical results were contrasted to analyze the relationship between the emission current and the inter-electrode distance using Fowler-Nordheim theory. Fowler-Nordheim theory is shown to be suitable for analyzing the I-d relationship of CNT films and for designing CNT-based displacement sensors.
