中文摘要In garage fire, two issues are causing concern, which are how the fire spreads and whether sprinkler system can control the development of the fire. So, in the article, an experiment study on full-scale car fire in garage under sprinkler protection has been conducted. The variation regularities of gas concentrations of O-2, CO2, CO and temperature versus time were obtained in the experiment. Heat release rate (HRR) was calculated based on the way of oxygen consumption theory. The peak value of the HRR was 1.1 MW and its average value was about 0.4 MW. From the experimental process and measurement data, it is found that sprinkler system plays an important role in restraining early car fire's development and spread. But it is not enough to extinguish car fire only by sprinkler system. Manual intervention should be executed as soon as possible. Moreover, the controlling fire ability of sprinkler is correlated with the distance of sprinkler to car, water flow, and activation time etc.
