英文摘要The period gap between 2 and 3h is a noted feature in the binary period distribution of cataclysmic variables. Several theories are proposed for interpreting this phenomenon. Especially, the famous standard paradigm of cataclysmic variable evolution based on period gap has predicted that the cataclysmic variable stars inside the period gap should evolve into detached binaries. This means that it is impossible to find cataclysmic variable star inside period gap. However, the period distribution diagram has clearly indicated that there is a relatively few number of cataclysmic variable stars with orbital periods between 2 and 3h. Thus, this paradox between observation and theory may indicate that the cataclysmic variable stars inside period gap are the key objects for the solution of the period gap.
